During their training camp in China to prepare for the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup final round, Vietnam's U20 women's team played their first friendly match against Beijing Women's Club.
Against opponents with superior physique and stamina, Vietnam's U20 women's players started proactively, organized a tight gameplay, and diligently executed attacking strategies. However, in the first half, the opposing team capitalized on an opportunity to score the opening goal, thereby taking a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Vietnam's U20 women's team pushed their formation higher, actively seeking an equalizer. After concluding the training camp, on March 15, the entire team will return to Vietnam and relocate their training base to Ho Chi Minh City to continue the final preparation phase before departing for the tournament. In the crucial two-week period, Coach Okiyama Masahiko's team is scheduled to have two high-quality friendly matches against Uzbekistan's U20 women's team on March 24 and March 27.
On March 29, Vietnam's U20 women's team will depart for Bangkok (Thailand) to participate in the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup final round. In the tournament, Vietnam's U20 women's team is placed in Group A alongside China's U20 women's team, host Thailand, and Bangladesh.
According to the match schedule, Coach Okiyama Masahiko's team will successively face China's U20 women's team on April 1, Thailand on April 4, and Bangladesh on April 7. These are considered crucial challenges for Vietnam's U20 women's team in their journey to compete for a ticket to advance in the continent's premier U20 tournament.
