Coach Okiyama Masahiko commended the Vietnamese U20 women's players for playing with concentration and discipline following the friendly win over a Korean club.
The Vietnamese U20 women's team secured a 2-0 victory against the first team of the women's football club KSPO (South Korea) in a friendly match held in China. This was one of the crucial tests for Coach Okiyama Masahiko and his squad during the training camp aimed at preparing for the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup finals.
Evaluating his players' performance, Coach Okiyama Masahiko stated that the entire team played with focus, discipline, and demonstrated high determination to achieve the 2-0 win. However, he also emphasized that the Vietnamese U20 women's team still has many areas to improve and is striving to enhance them day by day. According to the Japanese coach, this positive result will help the players gain more confidence before entering the tournament with the highest goal.
From the very first minutes, both teams started with high speed and a fairly tight match situation. Against an opponent with good professional quality, the Vietnamese U20 women's players maintained reasonable team spacing, played with focus, and were proactive in contested situations.
After a goalless first half, the turning point of the match came early in the second half. In the 51st minute, from a corner kick situation, Khanh Vy leaped high and headed accurately to open the scoring for the red-shirted team.
With the advantage of leading, the Vietnamese U20 women's team continued to maintain a disciplined game situation and applied pressure on the opponent's defense. An effective pressing move caused the opposing defender to make a careless back pass, creating an opportunity for the Vietnamese girls to score another goal, thereby sealing the 2-0 victory.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese U20 women's team will play another friendly match with a Chinese women's club on March 14 before concluding the training camp. The entire team is scheduled to return to Vietnam on March 15 and move to Ho Chi Minh City for training, while also having two additional friendly matches with the Uzbekistan U20 women's team on March 24 and March 27 to complete preparations for the tournament.
